Upper Triassic rocks are represented by the Saragai Group which is limited to narrow outcrops within the Shizugawa-Hashiura and Ofunato sub-belts. The Upper Triassic SaIagai Group comprises the Uchinohara Formation (Hashiuraw-Mizunuma area; Takahashi
& Onuki 1959) in the Shizugawa-Hashiura Sub-belt.
